Niki’s ORIENTAL SALMON Recipe


Serves 3-6 Prep 5 mins     Marinating Time 45mins

Cooking Time about 20- 25 mins


Ingredients


3 fresh salmon fillets (about 240g/8.6oz each)

2 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed

 

1 1/2 inch piece root ginger, peeled and grated

1 tbs honey

 

2 tbs sesame oil

1 tsp chinese five spice

2 tbs teryaki sauce



Baking Temperature 

 

180°C, 350° F or Gas 4

 

 

Method

 

Firstly combine all the marinade ingredients together and then place salmon fillets with marinade into a plastic container. Make sure your salmon is coated with the marinade on all sides. Seal the container with it's lid and place it in the fridge for about 45 minutes, turning salmon over at about half way during marinating time. At the 45 minute mark take salmon out of the fridge and place skin side down on your rack over the baking dish. Now bake in your preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes. When cooked serve with your favourite vegetables or a lovely green salad.

The left over marinade can either be brushed on at various stages of the baking or you can place in a saucepan and simmer till it thickens a little and then pour over your cooked salmon.

Salmon not only tastes great but is a wonderful source of high quality protein that is easy to digest. It is rich in vitamins A, D, B6 AND B12 as well as minerals like Calcium, Iron, Phosphorus and Selenium. It's main health benefit is that it is an excellent source of good fat or Omega-3 fatty acids.
